Something to Sing About
Hi there, I'm Heather, (sometimes know as "Songbird") owner of Songbird Consulting and Songbird Music & Arts Studio. I'm glad you're here! I can't wait to share music, marketing, events, wellness and the arts with you! Please visit our Songbird Music & Arts Studio page for info on class offerings and services. Be well!
Heather Villa graduated from Whitworth University in Arts Administration and Theatre. She previously worked for a local, independent newspaper for 6 years, and retail management for 15 years before that. She is a proud wife and mother of three, and currently runs these successful businesses: The Nest Community School House (a Reggio inspired preschool and learning center), Bella Cova (natural family gifts and support), Songbird Consulting (marketing/pr) and Songbird Music Together (early family music ed.) , and her band, Villa Blues n' Jazz (sultry, vintage blues n' jazz) , and most recently added: Songbird Music & Arts Studio (community music, movement and arts center).

PR & Marketing
After graduating, I put my knowledge to work immediately. I couldn't wait to get started!
While interning at Interplayers Professional Theatre, I began taking over membership, volunteer coordination and pr/marketing jobs as needed, and eventually was hired, officially, as their Marketing Manager for 3 years. I had a passion for networking and marketing all the theatres together, which caught the eye of the local alternative newspaper, the Inlander.
I left the non profit world to serve a broader clientele of arts organizations, nightlife and small businesses as a marketing and sales representative at the Inlander. I loved small businesses SO much that I decided to start one! Bella Cova continues to "nurture mamas and nest babies," serving the INW with quality, green friendly products and resources for pregnant and new mothers.
Fundraising & Event Management
One could say I started my management experience when I formed my first "Baby Sitter's Club" in my tweens! I've always been a leader and organizer. I suppose my motto for life would be, "never quit... and if you want something done, do it yourself!"

I'm a serial entrepreneur, which means that I crave starting and managing projects and seeing them take flight. Some of my creative outlets have been: 6 Foot Swing, Villa Blues n' Jazz, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Interplayers Theatre Summer Gala, Stork Club Suppers and the Spokane Woman's Summit 2015.
My civic and social devotions have connected me with many local non-profit and arts organizations, of whom I have had the pleasure of serving on their fundraising and event boards. Some of my current and past involvements are: The Spokane Woman's Club, Vanessa Behan Behan Crisis Nursery, Interplayers Professional Theatre, Blue Prints for Learning, Highland Sanctuary and the Spokane Arts Commission Performing Arts Task Force.
